Building on our tradition of service, St. Paul’s Convent School and the PTA once again joined hands for a heartfelt visit to St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged in Sheung Shui, St. Mary’s Home for the Aged, and Jockey Club Yee Yeung Care in Aberdeen. With a dedicated team of 140 volunteers, our mission was clear: to promote Love, Respect, and Care by extending our support to the elderly within our community.
A Day of Cultural Harmony and Innovation
This year’s visit was particularly vibrant, featuring a diverse range of activities designed to bridge the generational gap through art and technology. Our volunteers and residents shared a wonderful morning filled with:
🪭 Cantonese Opera : Enthusiastic performances that brought nostalgic smiles to many faces.
🎶 Golden Songs: A collective sing-along of classic hits, reviving cherished memories through music.
🤖🦁 Robotic Lion Dance: A modern twist on tradition, where robotic dogs performed a spirited lion dance, much to the delight and curiosity of the residents.
Small Gestures, Profound Impact
At the heart of this programme is the belief that small gestures of kindness can have a profound impact on the lives of the elderly. By simply being present—listening to their stories and sharing a laugh—we aimed to bring immediate joy and warmth to their daily lives.
With about 170 senior residents participating, we gained invaluable insights. Interacting with the elders allowed us to appreciate their wisdom and the richness of their experiences. Their stories have deeply touched our hearts, and we are truly grateful for their willingness to share these wonderful memories with us.
Heartfelt Gratitude
We would like to express our deepest thanks to our entire school community—teachers, parents, students, and the dedicated staff members of the elderly homes—for their unwavering support.
❤️ To our volunteers: your hard work and meticulous care created an environment where every elder felt truly cared for and loved. This service not only enables us to help others but reminds us to cherish those around us.
🙌 The richness of our community is found in how we care for our elders. We look forward to many more opportunities to learn from their wisdom and continue these meaningful conversations.
Again, we look forward to organizing more engaging Community Service programs in the future as we continue to grow together in compassion.
