SPCS PTA AI and Cyber Security Seminar 2023 (29.04.2023)

After three years of COVID-19 pandemic period, the face-to-face seminar has received the highest record of online registration totalling 290.   Parents and daughters gathered at the school hall on Saturday 29th April, 2023 to attend the seminar presented by our distinguish speakers:-

Professor Francis YL Chin, Emeritus and Honorary Professor of the University of Hong Kong delivered a talk on “How Deep Learning (Artificial Intelligence) Affects Our Lives” by using a simple model to illustrate how AI & ChatGPT work.  Deep Learning was introduced and he briefed on how breakthroughs in deep learning have driven the AI boom recently.  It involves billions of coding and big data to build up ChatGPT’s responses.  Nowadays, many jobs may possibly be supported by AI.  During the Q&A session, Prof. Chin and his wife Dr. Chan answered parents’ questions and gave invaluable advice.

Strengthening Parent’s Awareness on Cyber Security and how social media trends influence teenagers” were introduced by Mr. Jimmy Lam of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) in the second part of the seminar.  He commented on common social media platforms used by teenagers and elaborated on cyber pitfalls and the potential hazards. He encouraged parents to give proper guidance to their children on cyber surfing.  Appropriate measures were discussed in the Q&A session.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank both speakers for sharing their professional knowledge with remarkable insight with all of us.

Big thanks to all parents and daughters for joining this Seminar!
